PERFORMANCE
Defender

Whether you’re driving the kids to school or hitting the trails, every drive with your new SUV is an adventure. When you shop for a luxury SUV, you can expect plenty of power under the hood. Both the Defender and the X7 exceed these expectations.

Performance Specs

The Land Rover Defender and the BMW X7 are both capable of powering through the elements. Whether you're considering their base trims or their performance-inspired options, you'll be able to hit the road with enough power and torque to get through just about anything.

Both the Defender and the X7 come standard with a powerful 3.0L engine, so you can make the most of your drives.

Towing Power

The Land Rover puts that power to good use by helping you haul some extra cargo. With a towing capacity of up to 8,201 pounds, you can hitch a camper, a trailer, or a boat to your SUV.

On the other hand, with the BMW X7, you'll have to settle for a smaller trailer. It can only tow up to 7,500 pounds.

CAPABILITY
Defender

Of course, power under the hood is more important when you can use it on all sorts of adventures. Whether you’re taking the paved road or making your way down the trails, both the Land Rover Defender and the BMW X7 have impressive capability features.

Stay on Course

In addition to its increased towing capacity, the Land Rover Defender is also better prepared for rough weather and rugged trails. It lets you adjust to different driving conditions using the Terrain Response® system. This includes selectable driving modes like Sand, Mud & Ruts, Rock Crawl, and Grass/Gravel/Snow. Terrain Response® 2 is also available to automatically adapt and choose the setting for you.

The BMW X7 also offers some driving modes, but not nearly as many as you'll find with Terrain Response® in the Land Rover Defender.

Off-Roading Features

No matter which system you want in your Land Rover Defender SUV, you'll be able to ride high on an available off-road suspension. It gives the Defender an 11.5-inch ground clearance. This gives you the freedom to drive through up to 35.4 inches of water and attack trails with a 37.5-degree approach angle.

The BMW X7 sits a bit lower to the ground. This limits your approach angle, plus you won't be able to ford your way through any streams or flooded streets.

INTERIOR
Defender

Whether you’re driving down the highway or going on those off-roading adventures, comfort is key. That’s why these luxury SUVs are brimming with amenities that make it easy to sit back and relax. Both models come with plenty of space and technology.

Interior Features

Each one of these luxury SUVs features a large dashboard monitor and technology like Apple CarPlay ®, Android Auto™, and SiriusXM® Radio. This enables you to stream music and stay in touch with both the BMW X7 and the Land Rover Defender.

In addition, both models take an environmentally friendly approach to their seating. In the Land Rover, you’ll find the new leather-free material, Resist. In addition to being easier to clean, this material has a lower carbon footprint than leather. Similarly, the BMW X7 comes with Sensafin upholstery rather than genuine leather.

Which SUV Gives You More Options?

While they're both stylish and loaded with features, the Land Rover gives you more options. For example, it's available with two or four doors. The 4-door model even offers a pair of third-row seats. It also gives you the choice between a front jump seat or a center console. The center console even offers a refrigerator.

The BMW X7 doesn't give you nearly as many options. It always comes with three rows of seats, doesn't offer a jump seat, and can’t be outfitted with a refrigerator.
